"Pizza might as well be a character on DARIA after looking at the old episodes. Pizza is the unsung hero, as far as I can tell. While the show relies on dialogue there are some props I definitely wanted to include from my own memories of the show. Jane’s painting and hair dye from "Dye! Dye! My Darling" has stuck in my head since the show aired. That stuff is in there just for me."
-Pam Wishbow

“When DARIA was on air, I was in those formative years between junior high and high school, so this incredible print taps a very live wire of nostalgia for me. Daria and Jane were part of a generational spark of strong, iconic feminist characters in television and film – the Kat Stratfords, the Wednesday Addams, the Lisa Simpsons, the GHOSTWORLD girls.
Pam Wishbow’s art for DARIA magnetically pulls you into the chaos and beauty that is the teenage experience. She has created a whirlwind of ephemera of the late 90s / early aughts – the dripping pizza, block cell phone, headphones and CDs, sprawling lockers – which all draws you towards the focal point – our stoic, IDGAF (but really do) heroines of the show. The two best friends that almost certainly psychologically influenced my own personal closest friendships … seated there, sealed in time … giving you those looks that stare right through it all, wearing those boots that stood for something more than fashion, sending echoes of that familiar monotone. A voice of a generation.
This print both rewinds time and reminds us of who we still are. La la la la la …”
